Last year, we demonstrated that our translation and editing services officially conform to the European standard according to DIN EN 15038. In June of this year, we became only the second company in Switzerland to be awarded the successor to this standard and are now ISO 17100–certified. It is fantastic to be able to offer our clients further confirmation of the quality of the services we provide.
What’s new? Well, unlike DIN EN 15038, the new ISO 17100 standard is valid around the world, making it possible to compare quality levels among translation service providers in countries outside Europe as well. One important change is that the skills of project managers now form a much more important part of the test. Furthermore, unlike the DIN EN 15038 standard, translators, editors and proofreaders are now also assessed on their expertise in their respective areas of specialisation. Another new feature is the assessment of information security.
This meant that we had plenty of work to do in demonstrating that we conform to the updated standard. But it was worth it – not just because this certification has made our services more transparent for our clients, but also as it gave us the chance to learn a little more about ourselves as well.
